Looks like there’s a real bigot to deal with

And it’s the pope.

Pope Benedict said on Monday that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behavior was just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction.

Whenever the Vatican makes it into the news, it tends to relate to some silly, absurd facet of their beliefs, and yet for some reason, Roman Catholicism still manages to boast the largest numbers of any religious sect.

Edit: A commenter pointed out that there was some sloppy reporting on this issue and the BBC’s article on the same subject had a note posted a day after my original post:

This article has been amended to make it clear the Pope made no direct reference to homosexuals or transsexuals.

That said, while, if I am to take the BBC’s amendment at face value (Reuters made no such correction), that does not mean that the pope is correct on this issue and I suspect that the Church’s undue focus on sexuality is far more harmful than those who “blur the distinction between males and females”.

    More Papal Bullshit. I wonder how many altar boys Benedict had bend ovver for him during his days as a priest???

    I don’t think you read the full news report. Here’s the BBC version. It seems that quite a few reporters (including those at the BBC) didn’t quite understand the Pope’s discussion on gender theory. The BBC amended their article to produce a version that included the following note at the end:

    This article has been amended to make it clear the Pope made no direct reference to homosexuals or transsexuals.

    I suspect that you are right, as I didn’t reread the article after it was updated, which if you can read dates, occurred a day after I posted this.

    I will however, post an update.

    @AdamB
    So the Pope says Homosexuality is NOT SIN, but homosexual ACTS are? I don’t get it. I speak as a former Evangelical Minister, and really cannot understand the prejudice against people of the same sex that have an attraction to each other, and who happen to fall in love. BTW Adam, have you ever, umm pleasured yourself “down there behind?” You might be surprised at how pleasurable it is!
