Political ads for the Holidays

Recently, several of the Presidential candidates have put forth advertisements with a holiday theme and all of them except Ron Paul, the first participant in this unfortunate trend, have decided to work a campaign message into the ad.  For Huckabee, it’s an opportunity to bring forth Christian imagery.  For Obama, it’s a message of interdependence.  For Clinton, it’s an opportunity to name off social programs.  For Giuliani, one ad was not enough; he had do two, both of which used to rattle off policy positions.  Edwards wraps up this terrible trend with a message about poverty.

Personally, I don’t know which one I like least.  They’re all plagued by an air of incomplete sincerity and wooden delivery.  Personally, I thought that the commercialization of the holiday season was bad enough.  Do we really need a political Christmas?

I suppose that’s what you get when you schedule the Iowa caucuses 9 days after Christmas.  Videos after the break.
