Baiji dolphin not quite extinct

In a bit of good news, there was a recent confirmed sighting of a Baiji dolphin (Chinese: 白暨豚; pinyin: báijìtún), the freshwater dolphin found in the Yangtze River that was estimated to be extinct earlier this year.

Apparently, the team that confirmed that it was a genuine sighting is looking into the feasibility of making a reserve for the remaining dolphins that are found by moving them to an oxbow lake of the Yangtze.  Hopefully more are found and the species does not go extinct, but I am not holding my breath.
